Michaels, born in Cincinnati, Ohio and now living in Iron River, WI, helps protect and manage fish populations in Lake Superior. He is involved with studying lake trout and whitefish on Buffalo Reef as well as conducting fish surveys around the Keweenaw Peninsula.
He received his Bachelors Degree in Natural Resources from Northland College and continued on to Ball State University for his Masters in Aquatic Ecology.
