Under the CORA Charter the Great Lakes Resource Committee was established to serve as inter-tribal management body for the 1836 Treaty fishery, and the Inland Lands and Waters Resources Committee was created to oversee inland resource matters.
Together, the four tribes formed the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission in 1977, charging it with the mission of “ensuring a unified voice in the overall management of the fishery resources.”
The Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission (NWIFC) is a natural resources management support service organization for 20 treaty Indian tribes in western Washington. Headquartered in Olympia, the NWIFC employs approximately 80 people with satellite offices in Burlington and Forks.
